Wildlife and nature seen

from the Villa

Because of it's wonderful location set amongst the countryside and mountains the villa attracts an array of wildlife. Parakeets, Lovebirds, Little Owls, Doves and the Hoopoe are frequent visitors and can be seen in the trees and power lines.  There is a peacock who lives in the villa next to the gardens that often perches within the garden and you will undoubtedly hear his unique call in the evening.

If you are really lucky you might catch a glimpse of the famous Valencian painted pigeons! Likewise with fire-flies. In the summer months we also have a pair of nesting swallows in the eaves by the rear patio.

There are a number of different types of lizard and geckos that call the villa home and are great friends to have as they feast on troublesome mosquitos. Bats swoop across the olive groves and the villa roof during the evening.

As well as the insects that we all loath, such as the wasps, the villa is often visited by praying mantis. These insects are indigenous to Europe and are fascinating to see and observe.

We have not seen any snakes in our time there either around the villa or in the gardens.

As the villa is surrounded by farmland and small holdings there are pigs, goats and dogs resident near to the villa.

The nature, birds and animals are one of the features that make us love being at the villa so much and add such a lovely dimension to our stays there.
